The Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Church (KICC), Mathew Ashimolowo, has described the problem of Nigeria as a leadership crisis where elected leaders are celebrated for their position, hence their failure at functioning.

Speaking on the state of the nation on Channels Television’s weekend breakfast show, Sunrise, Mr Ashimolowo, said he now has tremendous trepidations and fears for the future of Nigeria as the country is being crippled by systemic failure and majorly leadership failure.

“I have tremendous trepidations and fears for the future” stated the clergy.

He explained that leadership in Nigeria is positional rather than being functional hence the lack of any vision to drive the nation out he present conundrum.

“Leadership should be functional and not primarily positional because when you celebrate the position, then you miss the purpose for which you were there.”

Mr Ashimolowo warned that the year 2015 would be a decisive point for the break or mar of the Nigerian state due to the utter collapse of systems in the nation’s politics.

He was however optimistic on the emergence of rightful leaders, as he demanded an overhaul of the nation’s education and urged parents to make their children think right from childhood on being great and purposeful leaders.
