The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) has advised the federal government not to toy with the idea of increasing the price of petroleum products saying this may throw the country into another round of crisis and may spell doom for the 2015 general elections.
Addressing a news conference on the state of the nation in Abuja, chairman of the group, Ibrahim Zikirullahi said the federal government should urgently address the increasing cases of insecurity and unemployment in the country instead of contemplating an increase in the price of petroleum products.
The group also advised government to address the rising level of corruption saying the damage being done to the country is astronomical as the menace of corruption is slowing down the nation’s development.
