One of the victims a police officer, Usman Abdullahi Suleja told Channels Television that the three-man gang stopped their vehicles and asked all the passengers to come down for checking and while that was going on they shot in the air and asked everybody to lay down while they took away all the valuables from the vehicle.
He however explained that while the operation which lasted for more than thirty minutes was going on with over six vehicles robbed, the Niger state vigilante group appeared on the scene and on sighting them the robbers ran into the bush.
When contacted, the Niger state police public relation officer, Mr Pius Edobor while confirming the incident explained that the command is on a manhunt of the robbers as there are evidences that the three-man gang are still in the bush as of the time this report was filed.
