The Ogun state police command on Thursday took over the secretariat of the Ogun state chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) located along the Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The police takeover is coming after a purported takeover of the secretariat building by a faction of the party in the state.

It was alleged that early Thursday morning, party members suspected to be loyal to the Bayo Dayo-led faction of the party was said to have ejected the Dipo Odujirin faction, believed to be receiving the blessings of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The situation which led to a slight breach of law and order was however put under control by the officers of the Ogun state police command led by the state commissioner.

It will be recalled that the current leadership tussle rocking the state chapter of the party has continued unresolved for months with various factions laying claims to the chairmanship of the party.
