There has been a fire outbreak  on one of the construction site at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The inferno occurred beside the ‘D’ wing extension of the airport.

A press statement by the Federal Airport of Nigeria (FAAN), stated that the inferno was as a result of activities of welders working on the construction site.

The inferno lasted for about 15 minutes and this led to an evacuation of the entire airport.

According to FAAN, “The fire was immediately brought under control following the prompt intervention of the Fire Service attached to the airport.”

It also stated that “There was no form of causalities.”

The incident caused the switching off, power supply at the airport, which was later  restored.

Normal activities have resumed at the airport as planes are taking off and landing without hitches.
