Police Parades 24 Men for Ijedodo Pipeline Explosion

24 suspected pipeline vandals were on Thursday paraded by the Special Task Force on vandalism of pipeline by the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos.

The suspects were arrested between the last week of November and the second week of December this year in Ikorodu, Mowe, Isawo, and Atlas Cove, all in Ogun and Lagos states.

Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspects include trucks laden with litres of petrol. The suspects will be arraigned next week.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has also apprehended three suspects for vandalizing a petroleum pipeline around Imobi Road, Ogbere Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state.

The three suspects, Kareem Rasaki, Babatunde Akeem and Owetuowetu Godbless  were arrested after a tip off on the activities of vandals  in the area as gathered by intelligence officers deployed to the area by the command.

According to the command`s spokesman, Mr. Kareem Olanrewaju, the arrest took place at Fowoseje village along Imobi, Ogbere, Ogun State.

Items recovered from the suspects included a Mercedes Benz truck with registration number Lagos- XR121AGL, 552 of 50 litres kegs, long hose, and a  big funnel

One of the suspects Kareem Rasaki who is the driver confessed to the crime but claimed he acted in ignorance as he was ordered by his boss, the truck owner Babatunde Akeem.

Olanrewaju however said the acting commandant Mr. Adetarami has directed that the suspects should be charged to court immediately adding that NNPC authority have been informed to repair and cover the damaged spot after necessary crime scene analysis has been concluded by the Corps investigators.
