Joint security forces in Kano state is now conducting a house-to-house search in Sabuwar Gandu area of Kumbotso Local Government aimed at fishing out suspected terrorists in the state.
Residents who spoke to Channels Television today on the exercise said the search began at about 5 AM.
They said the sudden combing of the area has triggered fears and apprehension among residents.
“Nobody has been able to step out of their houses this morning following the sudden appearance of the JTF who commence a house-to-house search. We were forced to be indoor, as those who went to pray in the mosque could not come out after early morning prayers.” Said a resident.
Residents also say that a number of arrests are being made in the process but could not confirm on whether the people arrested are criminals.
“So far no one has been molested during the exercise and we have not heard any gunshot but random arrests are being made.” Another resident said
The house-to-house search is coming few hours after the killing of business man Alhaji Baba in the area.
At the moment, no official statement from the JTF on the ongoing exercise has been released.
