The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has directed its Committee on Police Affairs, Security and Intelligence to undertake an in-depth investigation into the strange incident where dead bodies were found in Ezu River in Anambra State, South East Nigeria.
On Saturday 19th January, 2013, some villagers of Amansea Community in Awka North Local Government area of Anambra State found 30 dead bodies floating on the Ezu River.
No explanation has been proffered regarding the possible origin of the dead bodies till date.
This prompted a lawmaker from that state, Andy Uba, to raise a motion demanding that appropriate authorities be made to unravel the mystery.
The Senate directed its committee on police affairs, security and intelligence to undertake an in-depth investigation into the incident and report back to it in two weeks.
