Aerosmith lead singer and American Idol Judge; Steven Tyler has finally spoken out on his trip through the line of drug usage and abuse saying he spent millions of dollars on the spirit lifting substance.

According to celeb gossip site; TMZ, the Hall of Famer suggested that he snorted ‘half of Peru’ during his pomp as a global rock star. While appearing as a guest on Australia’s “60 Minutes”, Tyler said he spent loads of cash on the drug. “Probably, realistically, 5 or 6 [million], easy … You could also say I snorted half of Peru, but, you know, it’s what we did,” he said.

Although Tyler has kicked the habit, but he couldn’t deny the fact that drug usage actually crippled his life and ruined everything good that had happened to him, from his children to his several marriages.

“I needed that cocaine. I needed it.” But “It took my children away, it took my marriages away. I was on my knees.”

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are among the latest inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. “Each of our 2013 inductees has been responsible for captivating the world with their creativity for decades, serving up a rich variety of songs for our global soundtrack,” said Hall chairman Jimmy Webb in a release. “We are looking forward to celebrating their contributions at our Annual Awards Gala.”

In other Aerosmith news, the legendary rock band has announced their first Australian tour in 24 years. It will kick off at the ANZ Stadium on April 28 with support from Wolfmother, Grinspoon, Spiderbait and the Dead Daisies. Tyler attributes new audiences to his music to his time as a judge on American Idol. “There were 40 million people watching Idol every night. People would come on and sing Aerosmith songs. It brings you back up again,” Tyler said.
