The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 8, Jonathan Johnson, has called on policemen living in barracks to imbibe maintenance culture and take proper care of the facilities.

The police boss who oversees Ekiti, Kogi and Kwara States, while briefing journalists in the Kwara State capital, Ilorin, noted that though some of the police barracks are in good condition, he lamented the poor state of the others which he attributed to the nonchalant attitude of the inhabitants of the barracks.

He wondered why it is difficult for policemen to effect constant minor repairs on their abode instead waiting for government to rehabilitate and renovate later.

Explaining the difficulties faced by the police in reducing armed robbery in the country, he appealed to the citizens to always cooperate with the police by providing information that would lead to the arrest of criminals, adding that though it might be difficult to match the criminals in terms of sophisticated weapons, the change of attitude from the public will go a long way in reducing crimes to the barest minimum.
