Two conditions must be met by the traders at the popular Ladipo auto and spare parts market before the state government would consider reopening the shot market.

One of the conditions according to the state governor is that the traders must spearhead a clean-up exercise, and then write an undertaking that never again would they trade on the roads of the edges of the canal.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola who embarked on a tour of the market expressed his displeasure with what he called the massive degradation of the market area.

He insisted that he won’t take it anymore that the market cannot be administered.

The Governor demanded that the market must be thoroughly cleaned up before the market will be re-opened and that there must be no trading on road pavements.

The governor said he will not condone the littering of the canal by the traders because the metrological department has warned of heavy rains this year.

The Lagos State Government, last week, shut down the popular Ladipo market in Mushin due to the filthy nature of the market and alleged refusal of the traders to keep the environment clean.
