National Hospital Abuja Health Workers Call Off Strike

Health workers at the National Hospital Abuja, have called off their indefinite strike which began on Thursday.

Announcing the end of the two-day industrial action in Abuja today, the head, management information service of the hospital, Dr. Tayo Haastrup, said the health workers are to resume work immediately.

The health workers under the aegis of the senior staff association, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, embarked on the indefinite industrial action after their three-day warning strike which ended on Wednesday night.

The workers’ demands include the full implementation of the national hospital condition of service, the adoption of the training guidelines submitted to the hospital management in 2010 as training policy for the hospital, and the re-establishment of the staff clinic to cater for the healthcare needs of staff and their dependents.
