The Nigerian Union of Teachers has asked the Bauchi government to resolve the contentious issues of the disengaged 2000 teachers in the state by entering into dialogue with the leadership of the union.

The NUT President, Mr. Michael Olukoya made the demand while briefing journalists on the face-off between the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board and the state’s wing of the NUT in Abuja.

Mr. Olukoya alleged that payments of teachers’ salaries from January till date had been stopped while the state government had also impounded the union’s dues.

He says that the union is desirous of a quick end to the dispute and calls on the state governor to enter into dialogue with the leadership of the union to dialogue on ways of industrial peace in the sector.
