The Plateau State police command continued its fight against crime and criminal activities in the state with the arrest of suspects involved in robbery, car snatching and culpable homicide.
And to keep up this momentum in the state, the state police command is taking the battle to the grassroots and communities through neighbourhood monitoring of criminals with the inauguration of vigilante group of Nigeria in all the seventeen local government areas of the state.
Inaugurating the various units of the vigilante group that will serve as neighbourhood watch in their communities, the police commissioner warns members not to abuse the powers given but contribute their quota in fighting crime in their areas.
Plateau State police commissioner, Chris Olakpe while inaugurating the vigilante group from the seventeen local government areas of the state urge members to collaborate with the police by providing useful information and make their neighbourhood crime free.
The police boss assured that training will be provided for members of the vigilante group in intelligence gathering and other related areas that will enhance the performance of the group while the various local government authorities will assist the group with finances.
The plateau state police command also paraded some suspects involved in various offences ranging from car snatching to armed robbery and culpable homicide as they are to be charged to court for prosecution.
