Governor of Nasarawa state, Tanko al-Makura has approved N110, 483, 673, 000 as the state budget for the year 2013.

Governor al-Makura who signed the appropriation bill at the parade ground in Lafia, the state capital also announced the creation of two development areas and 10 additional chiefdoms as part of efforts to bring government closer to the people.

The governor however appealed to the people of the state to embrace peace and shun violence saying no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour and violence.

Deputy Governor of the state and a former minister of works, Damishi Luka restated the need for governance to be taken to the people. They both agreed that the state can experience development when the people can feel the impact of good governance.

The bills signed include the Appropriation Act for 2013, Local Government Amendment Law, Creation of Additional Chiefdoms, Law for the College of Selectors of Chun Mada, State Wildlife Park and Zoo Law, and the Anti-Stigmatization Law.
