Teaching Hospitals and Federal tertiary hospitals across Nigeria have been urged to improve on their mandate of providing adequate health services through research, training and service delivery to the people.

In a message to the regular meeting of the Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary hospitals in Jos, Plateau state, the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu implore the committee to embrace the public private partnership scheme in funding projects as well as solicitation of endowments from philanthropists in order to provide the needed health service delivery.

Over fifty four chief medical directors and medical directors from federal teaching hospitals, federal medical centres and specialists hospitals spread across the country gathered in Jos, North Central Nigeria at the 69th regular meeting for the periodic gathering to access the situation of teaching hospitals as well as other related matters that affects health delivery service in the country.

Delivering the Minister of Health message, Alex Ononyona, the Technical Assistant on Policy and Human Resource to the Minister urge the chief executives to empower the human resources at their disposal through the provision of needed tools, technology and training in order to provide adequate health care services.

The Committee Chairman and Professor of Paediatrics, George Akpede said there is a need to review the budgetary allocation to the health sector and the establishment of stabilization fund to save the health sector from consistent embarrassment.

As the chief executives of the teaching hospitals and federal government tertiary hospitals gathered to proffer solutions to improved health care services in the country, appropriate intervention in the various institutions that will increase capacity of service delivery should the concern of government.
