The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has denied a rift in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after 23 governors failed to attend a grand finale of the party’s reconciliation meeting and the 1st anniversary of Bamanga Tukur as the party’s chairman.
Speaking to State House Correspondents on the issue after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Akpabio, explained that his colleagues did not boycott the meeting, saying instead that the notice of the meeting was not adequately publicised.
Mr. Akpabio was one of the two governors who attended the event at the International Conference Centre, Abuja chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo.
He insisted that contrary to reports, many governors did not attend the event because it was not well publicised, stressing that there was no crisis in the PDP.
