A former Harambee Stars of Kenya player, Mike Mururi, says he is very impressed with the display of the Harambee Stars over the weekend in the World Cup 2014 qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Mururi says they have proven to the African continent and the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are the current African champions that they didn’t just threaten to perform well against the Super Eagles but they actually meant every word.

Kenya was a goal ahead of Nigeria up until the late stage of the game with a superb goal by Kenya’s Francis Kahata from a free kick, just as their fans soaked themselves in a jubilant mood.

When it was looking certain that it’s a day of victory for the Harambee Stars, thanks to  substitute Nnamdi Oduamadi who became a life saver scoring three minutes to the end of the game for the Super Eagles, preventing what would have been an embarrassing home defeat for the African Champions.

The former Kenyan striker, however, warned the Kenya team to always stay focused for upcoming crucial matches as their loss of concentration actually cost them the three points in Calabar.

Mururi said they should also improve in their performance as their opponents in the remaining matches would definitely not hand them the points easily.

Kenya still have about three matches left to play in the World Cup qualifiers with one away-game in Malawi and two in Nairobi against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Namibia.

Nigeria is currently topping Group F with 5 points with Malawi coming second with the same 5 points but on a goal for of 2 points while Nigeria has 3 points, Namibia occupying the third place with 3 points while Kenya is placed fourth with 2 points.

Mururi retired from the Kenya National Team and became player and coach at Chemelil in 2009, although he subsequently played during 2009-2010 season before he finally retired from club football too.
