President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday visited the Ikenne country home of the late Sage, Obafemi Awolowo, to condole the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo, for the death of her son, Oluwole Awolowo.
The publisher of Tribune Newspaper passed on following complications from a road accident he had along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in 2006.
“Ordinarily at three scores plus (70years old), one will be grateful to God but still, this death of Chief Oluwole Awolowo is very painful to all of us. May God grant his soul a peaceful rest and let the family have the fortitude to bear the loss” the President stated.
He assured that the federal government would continue to remember the family and assist them, especially the children of the deceased no matter the situation.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Tokunbo Dosumu thanked the President for the visit saying the family was yet to understand the reason for the death.
