An educationist,  Salmon Salami, has described the proposal to reorganise JAMB and NECO as a ‘very bad one’ hence he has sounded a note of warning to all stakeholders to hands off the plan to scrap the Unified Joint Admissions Board and the National Examinations Council.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Mr Salami agreed that there is a need to reduce the cost of governance which is the government’s reason for the proposed change.

However, he said “education is one thing you cannot afford to toil with.”

He added that UTME and NECO should be spared as there are other drain pipes in the education sector; where the government can focus its attention.

He said JAMB is so sensitive and is such an institution that allows the children of common men access to university education.

He also raised a few potential problems which could arise should the two examination bodies be scrapped amongst which are; students would make extra expenses in purchasing forms of different schools which would be empowered to conduct the examination and admission of students.
