Delegates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) today elected Mr. Maxi Okwu  as the National Chairman of the party  .

The delegates were acting on the order of the Enugu High Court that a convention be held. They converged at the Women Development Center, Awka to elect national party officials.

This may have laid to rest issues that would have affected the party’s outing in the 2014 gubernatorial election.

The convention was attended by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, and former Information Minister, Dora Akunyili among other stakeholders of the party.

Chief Maxi Okwu, who polled 790 votes as against his closest rival who secured only 90 votes, is expected to pilot the affairs of the party till the next four years.

Some of other national officers elected include Alhaji Sigir Maidoya,  Secretary, Alhaji Sadeeq Massala, National Vice-Chairman ( North), Chief Chris Uche,  National Vice-Chairman (South), Dr. Elijah Onwuka , National Vice- Chairman (South-East), Alhaji Tijani idris, National Vice-Chairman (North –West), among others.

The other two factions led by Governor Rochas Okoroch of Imo state and former party chairman, Victor Umeh, stayed away from the convention.
