The Labour Party has indicated its readiness to join the alliance with other opposition political parties ahead of the 2015 general elections.

The party said it will join the alliance if it does not detract from the ideology of the party as a people oriented party.

Addressing members of the party’s national executive committee meeting in Abuja, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state, who is the only governor elected on the platform of the party, said “merger of political parties with different ideological leanings will not augur well for the nation’s democracy”.

He also stressed the need for members of the party to make informed choices ahead of the next general elections in order to socioeconomically liberate the people and bring governance closer to them.
