In less than three weeks to local government election in Kogi state the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the state Governor, Idris Wada have threatened to sanction any political office holder who fails to win his ward in the forthcoming local election in Kogi state.

Governor Wada who disclosed this in the government house while inaugurating the campaign and reconciliation committee for the forthcoming polls also stated that there will be no sacred cow as the person will face the wrath of the party.

He explained that this warning becomes imperative in view of the pockets of crisis that greeted the just concluded party primaries and the threat by some aggrieved members of the PDP to work against the interest of the party during the May 2013 council polls.

While delivering his speech, the chairman of the party; Hassan Salawu, explained that where there are rancours, there can never be development. He called on all party members to close ranks and ensure that the party wins the coming local government election in the state.

Also speaking at the event was the state women leader; Hajia Zubeidah Mayaki, who also called on the governor to assist the women in the 35 per cent affirmative action to enable women to take active part in governance.

While delivering his own speech Mr Wada noted that the political office holders are appointed into the position they are presently because they are members of the ruling party, stressing that any attempt to work against the party will attract stiff penalty.

The Governor pointed out that before the elections in the state; those planning to work against the party have the option to resign now as anyone found wanting will not be spared; adding that the hierarchy of the party will not hesitate to deal decisively with such persons.

He urged the members of the committee to work tirelessly to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party and restore the confidence in them ensuring that they work together towards winning the local government election.
