A policy analyst; Galtima Liman has claimed that the 60 days deadline given by President Goodluck Jonathan to the committee on granting amnesty to members of Boko Haram is too long, stating that “at this stage it is very immature to give deadlines.”

In a telephone interview on Channels Television’s breakfast Show; Sunrise Daily, Mr Liman stated that “we (Nigeria) need to have a peace agenda” which he defined as an “amnesty programme.”

He said 60days is too long, “lives will be lost within this period of time”, adding that the issues are on hand and the government has the facts on the table.

Mr Liman also mentioned the call by Boko Haram members about their family members who are illegally arrested and detained. “If you can release them we begin some kind of peace because these are innocent people that have nothing to do with the war on hand” he added.
