The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar III has appealed to military officers not to get carried away by the security challenges besieging the country nor harbour any negative thoughts that would compound the crisis.

The Sultan made the appeal while receiving a team of military officers in Sokoto.

He assured that “the state government will continue to work closely with the military to ensure law and order is maintained”.

Leading a team of military officers, Major General Samuel Ameh announced the re-establishment of the military hospital in the state which he described as “timely” for it will help improve healthcare in the state.

Ameh noted that the insurgency in the north has given rise to a number of proactive measures taken by the military, from specialized training of thousands of soldiers in combating terrorism to upgrading of its infrastructure across the north.

The Sultan also challenged the military to keep focus and be worthy ambassadors of the country in spite of the raging violence that has frustrated millions of poor people in the north.

The sultan sued for continued peace, stability and progress in the country, and urged state governments to work closely with the military to ensure law and order.
