The Senior Special Assistant to the president on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe today responded to the recent incident that happened at Baga ( the Boko Haram insurgence) calling it “unprecedented”.
While speaking on Channels Television Breakfast show Sunrise Daily, he explained the disparity in reported numbers as regards the death toll of civilians during the shootout.
Okupe explained that the secretary to the Borno government had given a wrong toll which was proven wrong at the arrival of the JTF commander which he called a pure fabrication.
He said “Until there is actual report concerning the mayhem people should be careful with figures that are not correct”.
Okupe emphasized that the actuall number of bodies were 25 adding “If there are more bodies there should be a proof or they should show were they were buried”.
He reckoned that more people could have died in the mayhem, he said that the figure he gave is not sacrosanct but “we should not over sensationalize this matter especially when we don’t have the fact”.
