Senate Throws Out Bill For Remuneration Of Former Presidents

The Senate has thrown out a bill seeking to provide remuneration for former presidents, Heads of Federal Legislative houses and Chief Justices of the Federation.

At a stormy debate, some of the lawmakers who were opposed to the bill described it as “ill timed”.

Other lawmakers disagreed on the contentious issue remuneration for former military heads of states and the need to pass a new law when the 1999 constitution already makes provisions for former presidents.
