The Arewa Consultative Forum has condemned last week’s massacre of citizens in Baga, Borno state where more than 20 people lost their lives.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mr. Anthony Sani, the ACF called for a thorough investigation of the incident by the government in view of the different accounts of the same violence, in order to get the real facts.
According to the forum, the violence comes at a time when talks of amnesty leading to constructive dialogue is expected to stop hostilities and bring an end to the untold hardship brought about by destruction of lives and properties.
“To this end the ACF appealed to dr. Ahmad Datti and Mr. Shehu Sani to reconsider, their withdrawal from the Boko Haram amnesty committee in the interest of the north.
The forum believes that both the government and the governed must avoid generalizations that are not well informed by hard facts and asked Nigerians and the media to be wary of half-truths.
