Ahead of the Cross River State local government elections which has been slated for the month of May, the Cross River State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has released the guidelines for the elections in the State to the general public, with a promise to be fair and transparent.

The State Chairman of the party, Ntufam John Okon while speaking at a press briefing, disclosed that the meeting became imperative following the recent release of timetable for the conduct of the forthcoming elections by the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC).

According to him, part of the guidelines released demands that every aspirant must be a citizen of Nigeria, must fulfil all conditions stipulated in the constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria and the constitution of the Party.

Going by the timetable released by for the primary activities, sale of forms will be on from today the 1st of May till the 7th of May while screening of intending candidates for the primaries will kick-off on the 10th of May till the 15th of May.

Sales of Intent Forms (1st-7th May, 2013).
Screening of Intending Candidates for Primaries (10th – 15th May, 2013).
Appeals (16th -19th May, 2013), Publication of Screened Aspirants (20th- May, 2013).
Sales of Nomination Forms 21st – 24th May, 2013),
Primaries of Councillors/Ad-hoc Delegates (28th May, 2013), Councillorship/Ad-hoc Delegate Appeal (29th – 1st June, 2013),
Chairmanship Aspirants Primaries (4th June, 2013),
Chairmanship Appeals (5th -8th June, 2013),
Re-run Elections (10th June, 2013), Submission of Nomination Forms to CROSIEC (14th June, 2013.
