The United States Consul-General, Mr Jeff Hawkins and a team of other foreigners paid a courtesy visit to the delta state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, at the new government house,Asaba.The purpose of this visit is to synergize with the state government on areas of cooperation  and unity.

During the visit,the state governor, pointed out insecurity is now a thing of the past and this administration has done a lot to improve security and curb security challenges.

Hawkins, who was accompanied by two others, was on tour of the 17states the consul covers.

During the visit, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan criticize the inclusion of the state in the United States of America’s State Department’s keep-off zones for its Americans, while soliciting the cooperation of foreign companies operating in the state.

He assured them of the safety of their staff and the protection of their properties and advised them to synergise with the state government in the area of security and provision of employment and business opportunities in their host communities.

Dr Uduaghan further stated that criminal activities in the state have drastically reduced because of the different strategies put on ground to promote security in the state.

The Governor also assured the team that his administration was ready to work with them to ensure that the security challenges faced in the state becomes a thing of the past and create a conducive environment for investment.

In a brief response, Hawkins explained that he has been in Nigeria for eight months and his aim is to cover Nigeria beyond just Lagos and Abuja, he further stated that the team is in Delta State to synergise with the state government on areas of cooperation and security.

Mr Hawkins, during an interview session further described the state as very important to the interest of the United States of America especially as the hub of economic activities in Nigeria and promised to partner with the state government in areas of common interest.
