Obama said this during the visit of Thein Sein, the president of Myanmar’s visit to the White House, becoming the first head of Myanmar to visit the White House in 47 years, while discussing inside the Oval Office.

Assuring President Obama of changes forthwith, the Myanmar leader said he intends to move forward on releasing more political prisoners and institutionalizing political reforms that have already taken place, vowing also to resolve ethnic conflicts by incorporating all communities into the political process.

The Myanmar leader said his country is facing an arduous task in carrying out reforms but said for democracy to flourish in Myanmar the reforms must be carried out in the years ahead as he clamoured for support and understanding of the international community, including the United States, as Myanmar swims through the progression of becoming a better and peaceful nation.
