The British Prime Minister, David Cameron has called an emergency meeting of Britain’s emergency Cobra security committee after the killing of a man in south London.
Cobra meetings do not come up until there are incidences that can hamper national security which has to be dealt urgently.
The emergency meeting was called by Mr Cameron after a British soldier was killed and two other people were shot by police officers at the scene in the Woolwich district in the southeast of the British capital.
According to police statement, a number of weapons were reportedly being used in the attack, and this included reports of a firearm.
Eye witnesses say a body was seen laying on the road, with a couple of helicopters hovering and a lot of police on ground as security in the Woolwich district was tightened immediately after the incident, with nearby roads sealed off by the police.
Photographs posted on social media showed at least two people on the ground who appeared to be injured, but no further details were immediately available.
