The Isoko North Local government council in collaboration with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has built a 46 bed fully equipped cottage hospital including a doctors and nurses quarters and a theatre in Ekuigbo Iyede.

During the commissioning of the hospital, the secretary to the state government, Comrade Ovuozorie Macualay commended the effort of the state government so far in gradually touching all parts of the state and meeting the basic needs of the people as promised in the short period of this administration.

Men, women, children, traditional chiefs and government functionaries were all gather at the arena of the newly built Ekuigbo Iyede Cottage hospital in Isoko North local government council to witness the formal opening of the hospital.

The hospital before now has been operating since 2005 as  a small health centre but the local government council in collaboration with the DESOPADEC has deemed it fit to reconstruct and expand this health centre to a standard hospital.

During his welcome address, the transition council chairman, Mr Samuel Idise commended the state government for its support in ensuring that the commissioning of this cottage hospital is a reality.

Comrade Ovuozorie  Macualay emphasized that the state government is bent on ensuring that every community benefits from its three point agenda in peace and security, human capital development and other developmental projects.

The commissioner for health, Dr Joseph Otumara, who formally commissioned the hospital, during an interview session, lauded the effort of the local government council and promised to bring in the free maternal care centre, the Under Five Free Child Care Services to the hospital in a week time.

The commissioner for DESOPADEC, Isoko North, Hon Joseph Ogeh stated that the commission provided funds and other free medical services to support the council.
