The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tunji Bello, says the rains are early this year but the government is prepared for it because the drainage system is now in proper shape.
Speaking on Channels Television breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, the commissioner explains that the drainage network passes through a discharge point to primary and secondary channels down to the lagoon.
He explained that the secondary channels are moderate in size while the primary drainage is much bigger, adding that if the drainage is clear it takes a very little time for the water to disappear.
