Gov. Aliyu Blames Inadequate Manpower For Security Crisis

Governor Muazu Aliyu of Niger State has blamed the rising security crises across the country to the inadequate manpower across the security agencies in the country.

The governor made this observation during the official inauguration of the advisory committee on vigilante groups in the state at the Government House in Minna.

He observed that the nation is grossly under-policed; a situation that is making him to rethink his position on the creation of state police.

As the chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Governor Aliyu had kicked against calls for the creation of state police.

However, he lamented that the security agencies are underfunded and lack adequate training to tackle present security challenges.

It would be recalled that the Niger State Governor, 2 weeks ago, flagged off the training of 300 youths in modern livestock and fish farming in Minna, Niger state to curb idleness as he lamented the rising level of unemployment in the north which according to him has made youths in the region to be a ready tool for mischief makers, coming at a time when fundamentalist insurgency is staged across cities in the north.
