Australian Batsman David Warner has issued a title warning after he said that Australia’s aim is to win a third-successive ICC Champions Trophy title.

England and Wales are hosting the last ever Champions Trophy and batsman has put Australia in the contention list with his mind games, saying  Australia who won the competition in 2006 and 2009, is hitching to make history by winning it for a third time in a row.

He said obviously Australia have won the last previous two so they are hoping that they will clinch the third title in a row, locking it up for good and in the process make it into the history books.

Australia arrived in Cardiff on Tuesday and is embarking on a long tour starting with next month’s Champions Trophy before playing five tests against Ashes rivals England from July 10.

The current squad only contains two of the players who featured in the 2009 final – Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson – but Warner is confident in the team’s ability.

The 26-year-old singled out Nathan Coulter-Nile and Mitchell Marsh as bright prospects that could have a significant impact this summer as well as the next decade.

Australia has a warm-up match against West Indies at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens on Saturday June 1st before another practice game against India on Tuesday, June 4th.

Warner said the players will settle in and hope that the weather improves.

Australia is in Group A for the Champions Trophy along with Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand. Group B is made up of India, South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies.

The top two sides from each group qualify for the semi-finals and the final will take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 23.
