Lance Davids’ proposed contract with Ajax Cape Town has suffered a potential hiccup after the club revealed the midfielder’s wish for a lengthier deal.
Confirmed by Ajax Chief Executive George Comitis himself, the former Belgian clubside player asked for more that the deal that is currently on the table.
“We have offered him a new contract. He wanted three years, we offered two and now it is up to the board to decide and approve,”Comitis concluded.
The Urban Warriors confirmed on Monday they were nearing the completion of a deal to keep the South Africa international at Ikamva for next season.
The 28-year-old returned home in January from Belgian outfit Lierse SK, and went on to play a pivotal role in struggling Ajax’s bid to avoid relegation.
The PSL club have since been working feverishly to retain Davids’ services for next term, with the Mitchells Plain-born player widely believed to be set on cementing his roots in the Cape with his family.
