Ogun State Government has started the construction of a 29km Ofada – Mowe–Ibafo road in Obafemi /Owode Local Government Area of the state in order to reduce hardship faced by motorists and residents of the area.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Olamilekan Adegbite who made this known during an inspection visit to the road said it would be completed by the last quarter of 2014.

Arc. Adegbite explained that when completed, the road would link roads in different parts of the state.

According to him, the road project which is “Ogun Standard” would be handled by Central South Construction Company and reconstructed into a six lane carriage way with accessories like median, streetlights, walkways, green belt and full drainage provided on both sides.

Describing it as another fulfillment of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s pledge to give people living in the border areas a sense of belonging through provision of sustainable facilities, the Commissioner enjoined residents of the community to also perform their civic duties by ensuring regular and proper payment of taxes and levies into government coffers in order to embark on more projects for their benefit.

“Without doubt, you will agree with me that this is a fulfillment of another electioneering campaign promise. Let me therefore appeal to our people that since government has been doing its best to make living more comfortable for them, the onus is on them to ensure regular and appropriate payment of their taxes into government’s coffers in order to have sufficient funds to embark on more developmental projects, of course for their use” Mr Adegbite stated.
