Ekeweremadu Defends Six-Year Single Tenure

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has said the decision by the Senate Committee on Constitution amendment to recommend a six-year single tenure for the President was taken to avoid accusation of connivance with the President by the National Assembly to elongate his tenure.

Senator Ekweremadu who is also the chairman of the Constitution Amendment committee explained this while briefing Senate correspondents.

He added that if the recommendation is approved, it would take effect as soon as the amended process was concluded.
