Ahead of the 2014 governorship election in Anambra state, the calculations of the next governor emerging from Anambra North Senatorial district is gaining weight.

Former Senator, Alphonsus Igbeke Intends to Succeed Peter Obi As Anambra Governor

The state governor, Peter Obi, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and more than 10 out of the 30 members of the State House of Assembly stormed Nsugbe, a community in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state for the occasion of the controversial Senator, Alphonsus Igbeke’s declaration of intention to run for governor in the state.

Speaking during the occasion, Governor Obi said Anambra state is one of the most difficult states to govern and whoever does that for seven years deserves a trophy. He however maintains that since the south and central senatorial zones having taken shots at the position several times, equity and fairness demand that the North be allowed this time.

He however said he was assuming the position of a referee to ensure equity and fair play in the exercise.

In his declaration of intention, Mr Igbeke rolled out the possibilities of Anambra North and wondered why every other zone should think twice in giving his zone a nod of support.
