A Nigerian Sport journalist, Tony Eboh has said that the Nigerian Sports Authority should focus on how to develop school games to the extent that these games can feed the nation’s varieties of sports.

In a telephone interview with Channels Sport on Sunday, Mr Eboh said the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) can be used by the sports authority to hunt for players for clubs in the nation’s football, basketball, and others.

“We can actually inculcate a system whereby the NUGA games are used to feed the sport clubs – the football clubs, the basketball clubs, the volleyball clubs, the wrestling clubs,” he said.

NUGA hosts a bi-annual interuniversity sports competition called the University Games and approves fifteen different sporting events at the University Games: track and field, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, handball, hockey, judo, soccer, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball.

Mr Eboh added that the authority should also examine the economic value of the NUGA games.
