A bomb exploded near minibuses taking Supreme Court staff home in the Afghan capital, Kabul, killing at least eight people and wounding dozens, police said.

It was the second big attack in the city in two days. On Monday, seven Taliban insurgents including suicide bombers attacked Kabul’s main airport.

Supreme Court workers were getting on minibuses to go home when the bomber struck. Kabul’s deputy police chief Dawood Amin said eight people were killed and dozens wounded.

Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Nikzad said that women and children were among the casualties.

Police said the target was three minibuses taking Supreme Court staff home for the day.

The bomb was in a car and was triggered as the minibuses left the compound, Nikzad said.

A victim who survived the blast but not without injury said he in the company of some other people were sitting in the car he was driving not knowing that the car behind them has been bomb laden and suddenly the car behind his exploded and from then on he didn’t know what happened.

The Supreme Court is about 200 metres from the entrance to the heavily fortified U.S. embassy.
