Rivers State government says the construction of the N36 billion Andoni-Opobo road would be completed arond December this year.

The state governor and chairman of a faction of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Chibuike Amaechi, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the project in the state.

He said a specific date could not be given by the contractor on the completion of the project due to the challenges of variation.

The road with a total of 11 bridges, and only two left to be constructed, to link Opobo town and other communities, is touted to boost economic activities of the area when completed.

Speaking on other achievements and the need to develop the Ikuru beach which leads to the biggest fish settlement in the state, Governor Amaechi said the bridge linking Ikuru to Opobo will be completed in August this year.

Accompanied by his deputy, Mr. Tele Ikuru, Governor Amaechi inspected the Ikuru beach from where he visited the Andoni-Opobo link road.
