The Nigerian Governors Forum has been described as “an inconsequential” organisation that has not “brought anything positive to the people of Nigeria”.

These were the words of Dr. Isuwa Dogo, a political scientist, who was speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.

Dr. Dogo, who said the forum is “retrogressive” maintained that it is a self-seeking communion that must not be given so much importance.

He lambasted governors for holding meetings, since the military era, that have not produced any “positive impact” on Nigeria.

He likened the recall of the suspended Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, to a father and son situation, saying: “If you scold your child and the child is repentant about the scolding, you simply embrace the child and pat the child at the back.

“But if you scold a child and advise the child and say this is what you will do and the child refuses to listen and becomes so recalcitrant, the child is on the path of self-destruction.”

He commended the PDP for taking the bold step in recalling governor Wamakko.
