A Political scientist, Dr. Isuwa Dogo, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as observing “the highest level of democratic practice”.
Dr. Dogo who spoke as guest on Channels Television’s morning show, Sunrise Daily, added that “the PDP is the only democratically set up party in Nigeria”.
Dr. Dogo, who was reacting to the rumoured resignation of the chairman of the ruling PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, noted that the party is being witch-hunted by the opposition that sells different false stories to destabilise the PDP.
In his words “In the first place, those ideas are not from PDP; those ideas are planted by the opposition with the hope and belief it could be used to disorganise the party”.
He said “it only makes the party stronger”, maintaining that it is a display of “the beauty of PDP”.
He also debunked the rumoured defection of PDP governors to the newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC) as a “figment of the imagination of people that make such stories”.
The political scientist further argued that the alleged rift between the governors of the PDP and the chairman of the party is “what you are expecting” he continued saying “in a democratic setting you are expected to have differences of opinion, views and ideas.
If every idea is exactly the same as every other persons, then we cease to be human beings, will we say we are angels”.
Speaking further, Dogo accused the opposition parties of strangulating divergent views from members other than executives of the parties.
According to him “That is why in other political parties, nobody voice out anything because they know the supreme leader is going to cut the person to size”.
