The Kaduna State Governor, Muktar Yero, has commissioned an official vigilante service in the state.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Ahmed Miyaki, the governor explained that the move was part of the measures to curb insecurity in the state.

“The vigilance service will complement activities of security agencies in providing additional security across the 23 local government areas in the state,” he said.

According to the statement, the law is aimed at reducing crime and other social vices in communities, especially areas where the presence of security agencies may not be sufficient.

To this effect, a letter from the governor’s office has been sent to the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for gazzetting and implementation of the law.
