A suspected Colombian drug trafficker was extradited to the United States on Tuesday, where he faces drug trafficking charges in three separate courts.

Daniel Barrera – known as “El Loco,” or “The Crazy,” was captured in Venezuela in September as part of a major international operation involving Colombian, Venezuelan, U.S. and British intelligence agencies.

The Drug lord who is the last big drug lord of the generation of the ’80s according to General Jose Roberto Leon Riaño, director general of Colombia’s National Police, said authorities transferred him to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency for extradition. He faces charges in courts in two U.S. states.

Leon Riaño said Daniel alias ‘El Loco’ Barrera, who is wanted by three courts in the United States, one court in Florida and two courts in New York for federal crimes of narcotrafficking has been transferred to face his charges.

Authorities in Colombia, one of the world’s top cocaine producers, arrested dozens of members of his gang as part of the operation last year and seized tonnes of the drug.
