A five-man delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has visited the national secretariat of the proposed association seeking to be registered as a political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abuja.

Located in the Wuse district of the federal capital territory is this newly renovated building and it will host the national secretariat of the merging party.

Members of the political party monitoring team of the INEC were received by some executives of the party. The team took a tour of the facility and ended up with a closed door meeting.

The exercise is one of the requirements from the commission before the merger can be formalised.

The interim national chairman of the party, Bisi Akande expressed optimism that the party will scale through after all.

The delegation led by the commission’s director in charge of political party monitoring, Bala Shittu was received by the national executive of the party.

The association had applied to the electoral body for registration on June 7 after which it was asked to constitute its national executive in line with the provisions of the 1999 constitution. It complied with the directive by setting up an interim national executive committee led by Mr Akande.
