The Los Angeles Lakers wasted no time in finding their new center, to absolve the loss of Dwight Howard, who announced on Saturday that he will be joining Houston Rocket.

Chris Kaman, a 31-year-old free agent who spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, tweeted Monday that he had reached an agreement to join the Lakers.

“It’s true I am going to be going back to LA and it’s to play for the Lakers! I am excited about this move and can’t wait to play!”

“It’s going to be weird playing in the same building as I did before but with different colors! But excited about the move! ”

He is expected to sign a contract worth approximately $3.2 million, according to local reports, when free agents can officially sign on Wednesday.

Entering his 11th season, Kaman has career averages of 11.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game and played last season for the Dallas Mavericks after a year with the New Orleans Hornets.

The German-born American who reached the 2010 All-Star Game in his penultimate season with the Clippers was the No. 6 pick in the historic 2003 NBA draft, immediately following Carmelo Anthony (No. 3), Chris Bosh (No. 4) and Dwyane Wade (No. 5).
