A former Commissioner for Information in Rivers state, Emmanuel Okah, has described the House of Representatives resolution that the Inspector General of Police repost the Commissioner of Police in Rivers state as being ‘politically motivated.’
Speaking on Channels TV breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, the lawyer opined that the Inspector General of Police should ignore the resolution, insisting that the resolution by the lawmakers lack merit.
“If I have my way, I will urge the CP (Commissioner of Police) to ignore that resolution as it lacks merit” he stated, adding that “they (the lawmakers) do not dictate to the IG (Inspector General ) who and who is posted to any command.”
He further argued that the lawmakers decision was not based on adequate information.
“They do not have the fact the IG has. They do not have the facts the CP has. The only problem that has happened around the CP in Rivers state is not that the man is wanting in the discharge of his professional obligation, the only problem he has had over time is because Amaechi believes the Commissioner of Police is not doing his bidding.”
